The Eucharist - Source, Center and Summit

I am still a bit new to embedding MP3 on this blog, so for now if you want to download a version of the Eucharist talk directly to your Mp3 player you can click the link above.  If you want to listen to it online, simple click below.

This is an earlier version of the Eucharistic talk I gave at RCIA.  I gave this talk at Meal & a Message a few years ago.  The audio is a bit raw, but I hope the message is still conveyed: the Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic faith.

RCIA - COMMUNION OF SAINTS

In our last session of RCIA, I made a presentation on the Communion of Saints.  As I mentioned at the beginning of the talk, the presentation was only an introduction - an overview of the main points.

Here I have included, a more detailed article I wrote for Joe Catholic. I have also included links to some good books to read about the saints. Finally, I have included links to two series of MP3 talks presented on EWTN.

JOE CATHOLIC on the Saints

BOOKS:

The Voices of the Saints

The Incorruptables

[NOTE: I am only recommending this Father James Martin book. I am not recommending any of his other writings. While this book is very well written and loyal to Church teaching, some of his other works are not.]

CATHOLIC RESOURCE AND QUESTIONS ON SAINTS

Two great questions were raised at the end of today's presentation.

  1. What is a good resource for finding out answers about the Catholic Church?
  2. How do you distinguish between worship and honor of saints? How is this congruent with Bible teaching to only worship God?

Here are some quick links to answer these in more detail:

CATHOLIC ANSWERS - comprehensive resource for finding answers to common questions about the Catholic Church. The site includes a library of faith tracts, answer guides and past articles written by Catholic theologians and trained catechists. The site also includes an archive of past editions of its apologetics magazine, This Rock.

SAINTS - As I mentioned in today's session, Catholics do not worship saints. We look to them as role models and intercessory prayer. We recognize them as ordinary people who allowed God's extraordinary grace to change their lives. Below I have included a few links that address the questions in more depth.
